Susan’s Bio
Susan D. Hill grew up in Rocky River, Ohio and graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University in 1977. She worked in human resource management for ten years before becoming a full-time mom. She served in leadership for Bible Study Fellowship and Young Life and currently facilitates an interdenominational women’s group.
Susan works as a volunteer administrator for Uganda Orphans Fund, a non-profit, NGO relief organization founded by her husband, Duncan Hill. Since 2003, UOF has built over 30 different projects including orphan homes, schools and clinics for AIDS and war orphans in Uganda. She’s also on the Board.
Susan started writing for publication, initially cutting her teeth on magazine articles. In 2006, she took a half-written manuscript and a book proposal to a writer’s conference. A few months later WaterBrook Press, a division of Random House, offered her a contract. Her spiritual memoir, Closer Than Your Skin: Unwrapping the Mystery of Intimacy with God, was released in February, 2008.
In her book, she writes about her unfolding discovery that God was accessible–unpacking the cliche of “personal relationship” with God. Her stories reveal what knowing God looks like in an ordinary life.
Susan has been married to Duncan since 1978. Together they have three grown children and a granddaughter. They live in Montana.
